I am forcing myself to work today
forcing myself to sew
I do not force myself to build heads and such because they turn out like crap when forced
but for fiddly stuff like basting (loosely hand sewing before machine sewing) is mindless so I can force it
I dunt wants to sew this gypsy unicorn T_T
but I hassss toooooo
it is like a fight
a conflict
must force sew now nrrrg

sister has been helping with spring cleaning
and thus machine sewing work is behind schedule
I have plenty to do that she cannot do
so I will wait till she can machine sew
it is one of the very very very few things I get help with
I baste the fabric together and then she goes over it with the machine
and she stuffs dummines
sometimes bastes tails I cut out
that is all the help I get
and machine sewing takes a lot out of me X_X
so these projects are waiting on her...

fursuit making has left physical marks on me
namely a glue gun burn scar on the back of my knee
some scars from wire
calluses on my hands
I once nipped off the end of my pinky with scissors

I work with dummies on the floor in the middle of the room
the kittens think it is a jungle gym
before anyone goes ewww keeps pets off customer stuff
HA good luck keeping 3 wild kittens off anything
besides they are clean and I have the allergy warning on my site because my house simply must be fully contaminated with cat dander ^_^;
and I am not insensitive to those with allergies btw, I am extremely allergic to rabbits and less so guinea pigs (and yet my sister owns GPs in the back yard and used to have rabbits) so I understand the itching, wheezing and sensation of impending doom allergies can bring (oh dear gawd I never should have entered the rabbit exhibit at the fair, took a good half hour for me to breath normal after just walking from the front door to the back door)

I feel like those who do not make fursuits never know just how hard some of this stuff is
just how physically and mentally taxing it is to run a fursuit business
I constantly have to keep track of so much
customer details, what is due when, what I need to buy more of
this is a very high stress job
I love my job and my life...
I am super lucky to be where I am...
but some days I just wanna go back to bed ^^;
  • Listening to: my noisey fish tank and cockatieal...
  • Reading: recently: watershipdown, the last unicorn
  • Watching: err...what ever is blaring on the TV behind me
  • Playing: playing legend of Zelda:TP for the 3rd time
  • Eating: roasted salted peas (taste better than they sound)
  • Drinking: milk (mmm i LOVE mik)

Get a part time job to ease the stress of suits- and more especially, FUTURE suits. :/
Maybe for a theater of some sort? That could be highly paying
Puppet shows too xD

Sending big hugs to you! It's not easy to keep cats out of anything! I'm always finding black fur from my cats amongst my fur... maybe you should just try and make a climbing frame just for them? With cat treats hidden in it, an enrichement project maybe...

But I understand when it comes to sewing... when forced it looks awful! But you'll get there - I admire your amazing costume work!

I admire you for you hard work.

I wish I had any kind of job... you're lucky in that you were able to find an artistic product that makes money.

the best thing I came up with was making jewelry.

I must hug you. You need hugs. I get it friend, and I'm sorry for you. I know there's still work, but I'm sure you'll be fine. And if not, you deserve a good long rest for all the work you've been doing. :)
