10 (who?)
Cloud was a 12 year old white silky hen.

She is pictured here, this was back when I had ma ducks which I re-homed to a place with a better pond
how is this gonna work by LilleahWest

I hand raised her from a tiny chick, she was super tame and I even took her to High school a few times.
Chickens can live to be 10-14 years old and she died of natural causes, warm and cozy as a house pet in her old age (my younger girls have a heat lamp warmed hen house).

She just passed this evening.

It is odd that something that has been in my life longer than most my other pets, hell longer than any of my human friends, is no longer with me.

I shall bury her tomorrow in the warm winter sun, in my garden where she used to hunt for bugs.
  • Listening to: my noisey fish tank and cockatieal...
  • Reading: recently: watershipdown, the last unicorn
  • Watching: err...what ever is blaring on the TV behind me
  • Playing: playing legend of Zelda:TP for the 3rd time
  • Eating: roasted salted peas (taste better than they sound)
  • Drinking: milk (mmm i LOVE mik)

aww our friends had chicks that they raised into roosters but some really mean neighbors made them have to either kill them or take them away. At she lived a long life.

I know how you feel. It was very strange for me when I lost my little dog a year ago. Wishing you all the best.

one of my chickens had to be put down the other day :( It got a nerve paralysis deises that could have spread to all the others so she had to go. although i was no where near as close to her as you were to cloud!

I know someone who has a white silkie... it chases their dog and tries to sit on its back. They seem to be a very freindly type of hen!

Rip you beautiful fluffy thing! your a lucky bird to have had such a good life :)

I would like to give my condolences as well (sorry, can't think of a better synonym for "condolences").
My animals are healthy, but it's only a matter of time before something happens. :( She looks like she was a beautiful hen, I'm sure she lived a full and happy life.

My condolences as well. Recently, I lost my dog last month, so I know how it must feel for you to lose your hen.
