32 (who?)
so I send my niece and sis out for buckram while I stay here and work
cutter table lady "what are you making with this"
"we make costumes and use it for eyes"
"you mean like a fursuit or quadsuit"
*notes crutches
"are you.. Beastcub's... sister.. maybe"
"oh, well then I don't have to ask about the crutches... I am so sorry about what happened"
turns out the gal is a Sac-Anime goer and is making a lion King quadsuit.

Also apparently when a group of fellow students at my nieces school realized she was related to me she became like a celebrity to them o.O

...sometimes feels soooo weird having people know who I am o.O

like the one chick who ran up to be at a fairy fair asking if the head I was wearing, which I had not even debuted online yet, was a beastcub head, and I said yes, and then she asked if I am beastcub, I said yes, and she had a spazzy tizzy fit o.O

and once I was at a ren fair with BC and chatting it up with this one girl who was asking how I made this and that cause she is making one, I get an email 2 days later from her because she was online and saw the suit and had no idea she was talking to beastcub and was all happy she met me...

it is soooo weird sometimes to me when people know me... my life is still what it was when I just made these for fun and had no reputation or following or whatever the heck is it I have, I guess a simple way to put it is I am famous now (though that sounds big headed to me)
.... I often forget I am "famous" o.O and sometimes it weirds me out lol
  • Listening to: my noisey fish tank and cockatieal...
  • Reading: recently: watershipdown, the last unicorn
  • Watching: err...what ever is blaring on the TV behind me
  • Playing: playing legend of Zelda:TP for the 3rd time
  • Eating: roasted salted peas (taste better than they sound)
  • Drinking: milk (mmm i LOVE mik)

And then there's me who's probably the 1% that doesn't really act any differently if someone is "famous". ^^;

A few thoughts here:

1. You're being recognized for your style, and that's awesome! Nobody is able to reproduce characters the way you do because you have your own unique look... and that's great!

2. I'm working on my MBA and I've been in digital marketing (websites, social media, etc.) for years, so don't take this the wrong way, but perhaps "Micro-Celebrity" would be a better description? In its simplest terms, a "micro-celebrity" is famous to 15 people, not 1.5 million. Because of the Internet, sites like DA, YouTube, and all other forms social media, this is becoming a common occurrence... I have an acquaintance that dubbed himself a "micro-celebrity" several years ago when podcasting was becoming big, and his following was (and is) approximately the size of yours... and I personally still treat him as a celebrity.

3. The above does not- in any way- negate the fact that you're really talented and worthy of much-deserved attention... It's just an interesting thought I had while reading your post.

4. If I were to ever run into you at a con or faire, I'd definitely geek out, because (micro or not) you're a celebrity to me. :D

Dude! I've dreamt soo many times that I've met you... I would probably die. And then ask you to marry me. And then die again.

People know you here too! :D

When I brought the Gypsy quad to our Renaissance Festival, I had several people ask if it was a Beastcub quad, and then spazz out when I answered yes. XD I had one girl who spazzed actually pet him like he was the greatest thing ever. It was hilarious. A couple of people even said they saw you on YouTube and could not believe the quad was here in front of them. :)

...had that happen to me on the campus of Michigan State, kind of. However in my case, I had just met a group of random Korean international students, and they were mugging and taking pictures of me with their camera.
A random student came by and said "nice suit! You ever to go cons?"
I said "no," and then she asked "Is that a Beastcub suit?"
I said "Why, Yes!"
She answered, "Cool!", then turned and walked off, leaving me to finish up with the other students, before I could ask who she was, and how she knew.

I'd be like that if I met anyone I follow online. Actually I met a furry at RenFest and was like "OMG I Love your suit, who made it!" and we got in a 20 minute conversation on it. then I found her online as was like "I MET YOU!"
