So the stray cattle dog named Tasha (see previous 2 journals) went home today just before noon.
As the owner approached her she was as skittish as ever, but then she began to stare, and came up to the door of the kennel. He opened the kennel and sat down and the dog crawled over and put her head in his lap.
By the time they left she was calmly standing up on him seeking attention, her tail went from tucked to relaxed, and she jumped right into the car as if she had done so only yesterday.
After 2 years of being missing, likely running feral, she remembered him.
A phone call hours later brought more good news.
His wife cried upon seeing the dog, so grateful to have her back.
Their toy poodle, whom Tasha grew up with, at first did not seem to know her but then it's tail began to wag and the little dog got all happy... the poodle remembered her!
Their new dog, a cattle dog mix they rescued long after Tasha went missing, seems to be doing well, not exactly friends but not enemies, which in past experience means they will get along if not be playmates.
Turns out what happened is the door rattles in the wind and on one very windy day it rattled to the point of coming unlatched, both dogs escaped without their humans knowing, they found the poodle but not Tasha.
So in the end all is well.
Considering how she flinched every time we touched her and looked at us all wary-eyed it was extra heartwarming to see Tasha warm up to her owner and seek his affection. <3

Selling some of my personal costumes
You can find them for sale here https://www.thedealersden.com/search/other-items/?username=beastcub&user_id=105686 - - - I hate to sell these but my roof is 20 years overdue for a replacement and we sprung multiple leaks in the record rain California received over the winter, and now an El Nino may be heading our way, and so I badly need to replace it, but it is going to be roughly $50k!!! I had the money almost all saved up for it, but after a sewer line disaster, a neighbor's tree limb falling on our car, having our giant mostly dead 200 year old cottonwood tree removed after it proved itself dangerous after a mere piece of it's bark punched a hole in my shed roof (I loved that tree, RIP) and having to replace the HVAC units on both the main house and the addition, all in the span of 10 months, I don't have the funds anymore. And so, since my sister and I have mostly retired from conventions and events we are selling some of our personal costumes to scrape up a deposit for the

notes on using a ballcap as a fursuit base
The ball cap method is something I came up with over a decade ago due to my need of glasses and issues with the usual methods of balaclavas and elastic straps setting off my claustrophobia.
It has come to my attention another maker has been using hats inside their fursuit heads and they are doing it all wrong (using small sized floppy hats with a sliding adjuster, only sewing the hood to the hat in one small spot, and not attaching the hat to the resin base at all let alone putting any foam in the gap, just one of these can lead to a disaster of a fit and this person is doing all of the above) and now I am hearing "built on a baseball hat" u
Fursuit commissions open now
Ok, so, I had a minor pose as an adult to commission me and fraudulently use their mother's credit card, the paypal case has been in review for over a month and it is still not resolved, and if the case is not found in my favor I will loose the spent deposit and face some financial worry.
As a precaution I wish to cover said funds now and thus I will be open to give quotes to potential new clients from now to June 8th, I will then select my lucky new clients June 9th. (This opening is a bonus opening, my usual opening in August is still happening.)
For a quote email me at thebeastcub@gmail.com please only email me if you are ready to commit

Terrific story, Lilleah
How's Gemily doing nowdays? Did Tasha give you all a morale boost? I remember fondly each of the strays my brother & I found - It's a great feeling and immently worth it, especially when there's a happy ending like that.
+1 for microchipping. Both of my cats are chipped & I wouldn't want to risk losing either cat -
