His knee shattered with the doppelgangers blow, Link’s wounded limbs gave out and he slammed into the unforgiving ground. The world flashed bright and then dark as both his mind and body were hit with a state of shock.

The battle had been long and harsh…Just moments before Link was the one with the upper hand, but now….How could he falter so drastically, so suddenly.

The hero tried to rise to his feet and failed, both legs had been deeply slashed, with the bone of one knee smashed. Furthermore, Link found that his right hand would not respond, his arm had been rendered useless, the flesh and bone torn and broken.

Link heard Dark’s approach….The hero braced himself.
He had come so far, further than he had ever hoped, each day was spent on the edge of existence, never knowing when the end would come…And with his body broken, strength draining along with the rush of blood from his wounds…it seemed the end has come.

Link stared the shadow down with fierce, brave eyes, not speaking aloud the words that ran through his mind“…My throat…? My heart? …Take my head if you must you sadistic bastard, just don‘t leave me to suffer…“ As the shadow lifted the hero’s blade Link turned away with eyes closed, prepared for the fate he had known may one day come. "Please, Goddesses, let me die swiftly…” the words flooded his mind, drowning out all fear…

But as the hero heard the sword make contact he found the sounds of the world still continued.
“Wait, why am I still alive…why didn‘t he…”
Link opened his eyes to find Dark grinning slyly down at him, the Master Sword embedded in the ground just behind his neck.

The dark incarnation sneered “Lord Ganon did tell me to bring you in alive if at all possible. But don’t worry, you’ll meet your end soon enough…Just as soon as you serve your purpose as bait to lure out the princess.”

As Link looked up into those cruel red eyes, the hero feared he may soon face a fate worse than death.
