How to build horse heads by LilleahWest How to build horse heads by LilleahWest
this is also how I built Robot Unicorn, who served as my test subject and its 2 years old now and holding up splendidly to my abuse, even to being thrown to the ground, crammed in suit cases, and being left in a hot car.

I fully trust this method, which gives you a nice hallow head for mounting LED eyes and fans into, and gives you much more stable results for quadsuits, I also think it may be lighter than carved foam.

The colored one had its cheek foam and neck arch altered after this photo, the red eared one had foam added to the cheeks and eye ridge after this, the unicorn is a quadsuit head which has vision out a collar, the other 2 have vision out mesh in the neck just under the head.

Is this just for anthro horse fursuits or do you use this method for horse quadsuits (like Epona) too?

do you think this method would work for a normal anthro mask, only obviously without the back of the head and the large size?

EVA foam and craft foam. Think gym mats.

Awesome! Out of curiosity, is the horn a cut off icicle ornament? If it is, brilliant!

what material is that? it looks like those light rubber/foam mats u put under treadmills and such, but that stuff is heavy, unless its the puzzlemat variety? btw the main photo helped me a couple weeks ago make my Clydesdale quad head, and i thank you so much

Your work is always so fascinating! I saw a manufacturer on "How It's Made" make a mascot suit. Okay, mascots are fine.

But you create ART.

Thanks for sharing a WIP of your awesome work !
I will work on a fursuit soon but I will use a resin blank as a base for the head. But for my quadsuit projects, this is very helpful !

I am too dumb and disorganized to ever build a costume like this, but for people who might try, this is wonderful! A little insight on why your costumes always rock :)
